Signez don!

Informing your family

Discuss your wishes with your family. They must respect your wishes.

Upon your death, the medical team will ask your family about your wishes. If your family is aware of your intentions, they can act on your behalf. If you haven't expressed your wishes, then your family will have to make the decision. Some families oppose organ and tissue donation because they are unaware of the donor's wishes.

Broaching the subject

Various occasions can provide opportunities for raising the subject of organ and tissue donation with your family such as school projects, magazine articles, or a neighbor awaiting a transplant.

Did you know that...

Your organs and tissues will be used for research and teaching only if that is what you have specified in your consent. In such cases, your organs and tissues will not be used for transplants or grafts. Your family will have to specify this in the consent form that they must complete upon your death.
